Cora was born in Broadwater, Nebraska on July 12, 1933, to Perfecto and Agapita Garcia. She was the oldest of 3 children. Her family later moved to Minatare, Nebraska. She attended school in Minatare until the 8th grade before working to help support the family. She was employed by working the fields.

Cora married young in her union with her 1st husband, had 6 children and resided in Aurora, IL. Returning home and later marrying her 2nd husband and in that union one daughter.

Cora worked for Midwec, and was known in the community for her cooking with the local restaurants, The Flame and Koala Club. Her patron’s favorite item on the menu, the Matadors.

Cora loved to tend to her garden, flower beds, doing jigsaw puzzles and watching her evening shows on the telly. Most important role to her was being a mother. A strong, stubborn and very loving woman. Who was reared during the great depression and knew how to reuse and recycle, “Never waste anything”, reminding her children in 3rd world countries do not have the luxury we do, favoring little knick knacks/trinkets due to cost. Never bought anything new. Gave us a work ethic, nothing is free, you have to work for what you get.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband Jose Zamarripa, parents Perfecto and Agapita, brother Bernardo Garcia, sister Mary Garcia, granddaughter Liliana Marquez-Arrellano, and niece Desirae Garcia.

She is survived by her children Barbara (Tony) Dearing of Detroit, MI, Charles (Lorena) Cerda of Brighton, CO, Sandy (JD Standley) Cerda Olds of Minatare, NE, Michael (Victoria) Cerda of Scottsbluff, NE, Rose (Jake) Kling of Scottsbluff, NE, Mary (Richard) Arrellano of Scottsbluff, NE and Victoria (David) Park of Minatare, NE; 29 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Not necessary, but family request to wear her favorite color, turquoise at service.
