It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edwin Tomoi, who died at the age of 92, on June 14, 2024 after a brief illness. His inurnment will be a private ceremony in the presence of close family members and friends.

Edwin Nozomi Tomoi was born on January 25, 1932 to Shimataro and Tamayo (Hayashi) Tomoi in Mitchell, Nebraska. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1950. In 1951, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and attained the rank of corporal during the Korean War. During his service he was a cook and also worked in telecommunications. In 1953 he was honorably discharged. Following his service, Edwin was a partner with his brother Sam Tomoi in their farming and custom hay grinding business. Edwin retired from farming in 2008.

Edwin married Jenny (Kitagawa) in Raton, New Mexico on June 21, 1963. They were married for 47 years until her passing in 2010.

Survivors include sisters-in-law Irene (Noy) Tomoi, Ruth (Thomas) Tomoi, Anna (Sam) Tomoi, and Nobie (Holly) Kitagawa; nieces Adrienne Ikeya, Nancy Tashiro, Joan Sakyo, Deborah Kawakami, Joyce (Harry) Parker, Gaylene (Rick) West, Karen (George) Shinzaki, Tami (Randy) Lippstreu, Kathy (Randy Bohac) Tomoi, Lisa (Randy) Lewis, Jill (Rafael) Tancioco, Miko (Skip Wagner) Kitagawa, and Michele (Stan) Bodenheimer; nephews Robert (Diane) Hara, Ken Yamada, Bill Tomoi, Tom (Kim) Tomoi, Randy (Deb) Tomoi, Don (Diana) Tomoi, Jay (Julie) Tomoi, Benji (Antionette) Kitagawa, and Genji (Becky) Kitagawa along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his loving wife Jenny; his parents; siblings Mary Yamashita, Lois Yamada, Bonny Hara, Esther Goishi, Noy Tomoi, Thomas Tomoi, Sam Tomoi and an infant sister.
