Donald E Dillman, 88 of Gering, Nebraska passed away, Tuesday, May 24, 2002 at Regional West Medical Center with his family by his side.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 1-:30 am at Salem Congregational Church with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Creighton Valley Cemetery south of Melbeta with military honors. Visitation will be Monday, May 30 at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel from 2-4 pm. Don was born January 7, 1934 at home to Pete and Mollie (Mehling) Dillman. He received his early education in Morrill and Minatare schools, and attended until his 16th birthday as a Senior in High School. He received his GED when he was at Ft. Lewis, Washington and later completed 2 years Jr. College. Don always had a love for learning and always reading a book, or National geographic magazines. He had many adventures and always thought he might write a book one day but never got it down on paper.

Don entered the United States Army, September 15 and completed training at Ft. Carson, CO, El Paso, TX and Ft. Lewis, Washington here he would serve as an MP.

He was united in marriage to Naomi (Nonnie) Stuart on April 8, 1956 in Scottsbluff, NE. They lived in Washington and then lived and farmed at Bayard, NE before settling at the farm at Melbeta and then moving to town a few years ago. One of his proudest moments was when his daughter Renee was born a year later.

Don left farming in 1965 and opened Sure Crop Chemical Co in Melbeta, NE. During that time he utilized all that constant reading and learning to develop his own Lawn and Garden Fertilizer and patent. He was an award winning salesman with Pioneer Seed Company, and affiliated with Pure Gro and Simplot Soil Builders which he did until his retirement in 2000.

Don was a member of the Moose Lodge, Nile Valley Coon Hunters Association, and served the Salem Congregational church in many capacities throughout the years.

He had many hobbies and interest and strived to be the best at all of them from deer, elk, and turkey hunting, fishing and several trips to Canada, Yellowstone and deep sea fishing in Oregon and California. Coon hunting where he had multiple Champions including a National Champion with Chopper. Golfing with his many friends especially the Seniors.

His is survived by his wife Nonnie of 66 years, daughter Renee Dillman-Kuehl and son-in-law Timm; grandchildren Timmarie Donn Orin (Jess), Cristopher Martin Kuehl (Beth) and his great grandchildren Jordan Shirley Kuehl, Anthony Edward Orin, Blake Seeley Kuehl, Carter Henry Orin; brother John Dillman and many nieces and nephews, as well as his 4 legged buddy Mocha.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Ruben and Betty, sister-in-law Helen, niece Donna Dillman, nephew Roger Manske, father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Goldie Douglas.

The Dillman Family would like to thank his caregivers Robyn, Michelle, Patty, Kay and Brenda for their loving care the last few months.
