Carol Ann Wightman, 89 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Monument Rehab and Care Center in Scottsbluff.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:00 am at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tom Youngquist officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery, Minatare. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Carol was born on March 14, 1935 in Chickasaw County, Iowa to Ole and Ella (Throndson) Anderson. She received her education at various country schools, graduating from high school in 1953.
She married Mel Herdt in Torrington, Wyoming until his passing on August 19, 1965. She later married John E Wightman on September 15, 1967 in Torrington, Wyoming. John passed away in September of 2008.
Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church in Henry, Nebraska.
Survivors include her daughters Ellen (James) Lay and Lynda (Bryan) Russell; grandchildren John Lay and Alyssa (Lucas) Stone and great granddaughter Kodi Marie Stone.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and husbands Melvin Herdt and John Wightman.
