Following interviews of five qualified candidates, the City of Gering has selected Tina Worthman as the new Director of Tourism.
Worthman has a BA from UNL and brings with her considerable marketing experience. She has served as a Public Information Officer for Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources, Director of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, and Director of the Midwest Theater. She is a member of the Scotts Bluff County Board of Tourism and the Oregon Trail Days Association Board.
Outgoing Director of Tourism, Karla Niedan-Streeks, announced her retirement to City Officials in August of this year. “Karla will be difficult to replace with her many years of tourism experience. She has done extensive marketing for the Gering area and helped bring in numerous major events that brought thousands to our community. She has served the City of Gering tremendously well and will be greatly missed”, stated Pat Heath, City Administrator.
Worthman says she’s very excited to begin her new duties as the City’s Director of Tourism on September 30.
“The Mayor and Council are pleased with the outcome of the hiring and selection process for a new Director of Tourism. City staff look forward to welcoming Tina to our team and believe that her wealth of experience and knowledge will enable her to competently continue where Karla leaves off”, added Heath.
