With just a few weeks remaining before the annual Monument Marathon, organizers are looking for just a few more volunteers to handle some very important functions.
Race Coordinator and WNCC Foundation Director Jennifer Reisig tells KNEB News a few of their usual course marshals have had to bow out, and they’re looking for replacements.
“They really provide that extra support to make sure that runners see the sign and they get turned like they need to, or they continue straight in an area where it looks like. Should I turn? Should I go straight?” said Reisig. “So those are really vital positions, and we have them located all the way from the Wildcat Hills, the start of the full marathon, all the way around the Monument and at the into the finish line at Five Rocks.”
In addition, volunteers are needed to help coordinate parking at Five Rocks Amphitheater in the early morning before the race starts.
