The Western Nebraska Pioneers opened the summer season by winning two of three games in North Platte, taking the rubber game of that series on Thursday night 8-6 in ten innings.

The Pios were trailing 6-3 heading to the eighth but then proceeded to score one in that inning, then two runs to tie in the ninth before taking the lead in the tenth with two more runs. Ryan Callahan (KU) drove in the go-ahead run with a RBI single.

Paul Panduro earned the win on the mound with two scoreless innings of relief, he struck out two and walked two.

Ethan Hergert (Southeast CC) homered in the win for the Pioneers.

With that series win under their collective belt the Pioneers will open up the gates at Oregon Trail Park Stadium tonight getting the first homestand underway as they welcome in the Nebraska Prospects for a three game series.

First pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:35 and we’ll get the broadcast underway on KNEB AM 960/100.3 FM & KNEBam.com at 6:20 with Jake Sirkus.
