A pair of Gering residents are facing charges after a traffic stop in Scottsbluff Monday night led to the discovery of methamphetamine in a lock box.

Arrest affidavits say as officers stopped a vehicle for a non-functioning brake light, 27-year-old Dimas Garza jumped from the driver’s seat into the back seat, and 30-year-old Undreia Martinez moved over from the front passenger seat.

A K-9 was called in, and a search uncovered lock box containing approximately 28 grams of what tested presumptive positive for meth, two Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills, a digital scale and a debit card in Garza’s name.

Officers say Martinez tried to claim the drugs were hers, but the keys for the lockbox were in Garza’s pocket.

Garza is charged with felony Possession with Intent to Distribute 10 to 28 grams of Methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled substance, Oxycodone.

Martinez was charged with a class IV felony meth possession charge for a pipe found in the front passenger area with a white crystalline substance that tested positive for meth.

Both were scheduled for arraignment Wednesday afternoon in Scotts Bluff Co. Court.
