The Scotts Bluff County Fair is in full swing, and that means local 4H kids are in the spotlight showcasing their animals.
On Wednesday at Sandford Hall it was the poultry show, where chickens, ducks, geese, and even turkeys were put on display by area youngsters.
One of those participants was 8-year-old Nathan Miller of rural Morrill. This was his first year showing at fair, and explained to the judges what his Polish Chicken “Oreo” was all about.
“Parts of her body,” said Miller. “So I had to count her feet and her toenails. This is her shank, and then tell them (the judges) about the beak and her nostrils.”
Miller earned a green ribbon in his inaugural year showing at fair, while his older sister Logan Miller took home a purple ribbon for showmanship with her duck Taffy.
