Thursday marks the end of a long, distinguished career for Scotts Bluff County Veterans Service Officer John Brehm.
Brehm was honored during a reception at the Scotts Bluff County Administration Building Thursday morning.
With a nice crowd on hand at mid morning, Brehm told KNEB News he was touched by the number of people who came out to say goodbye.
Brehm received plaques commemorating his service from Scotts Bluff County, the American Legion, and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.
Brehm also the guest of honor for a retirement dinner at the VFW Post 1681 in Gering at 5 p.m.
Brehm is stepping down after 48 years of service to area veterans, nearly all of them as the county’s VSO.
