Heating up: Temperatures on the rise across Nebraska for next two weeks
July 22nd, 2024 | Ella Stiefvater

Moderate July temperatures are on their way out according to Eric Hunt, UNL Extension Educator and Meteorologist.

By the end of the week, western Nebraska could see temperatures in the triple digits and the heat will continue to move east. By next week most of the state will see upper 90-degree days with little relief from rainfall, Hunt said.

Chances for thunderstorms remain isolated over the next few days with greater opportunity for rainfall closer to the end of July.

After excessive flooding in the northeastern part of the state, other areas are still recovering from last year’s drought.  While eastern Nebraska remains mostly safe from dry conditions, the western half of the state is experiencing drought spots which could be subject to expansion within the next few weeks of excessive heat.
