Gering Standoff Suspect Sentenced to 35 to 48 Years
May 20th, 2024 | Ryan Murphy

The man involved in a 28 hour armed standoff in Gering last September was back in court Friday for sentencing.

38-year-old Bradley Garcia did not have to stand trial, as he pleaded no contest to charges of Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony and two counts of Attempted 1st Degree Assault on an Officer.

The Gering man did not speak during sentencing, and District Judge Leo Dobrovolny showed little mercy, handing down 15-20 year sentences for the Attempted 1st Degree Assault convictions and another 5 to 8 for the weapons charge.

In total, the three sentences will run consecutive to each other for a total prison sentence of 35 to 48 years.
