Coming up tonight we’ll have two more high school football broadcasts on our RRN-Scottsbluff stations with Scottsbluff’s home opener plus Gering and Mitchell get together in a big at the home of the Tigers.

That after last night’s Area Game of the Week on 94.1 The Brand as Minatare won at home over Banner County 39-4 (Full recap HERE).

RRN-SCOTTSBLUFF GAMES TONIGHT

  • Lincoln Northwest Falcons (0-1) at Scottsbluff (1-0) – 107.3 The Trail & KHYYfm.com 6:30 pregame, 7 pm kickoff

Scottsbluff is coming off a blowout road win over Grand Island Northwest to open the season last week while Lincoln NW was routed by Ralston 44-0 (Ralston lost last night to Gross Catholic 35-0). It’s the second year for NW with a full varsity schedule in their third year of the high school.

NW coach Brian Lauck talks about the project of starting a program from scratch in Class B

A major bright spot for Scottsbluff last week was the secondary. The backend came up with four interceptions in the game (Sebastian Galindo, Des Smith, Keon Delgado, and George Schmall).

Scottsbluff coach Jud Hall on the outstanding play from the secondary in week 1
  • Gering (1-0) at Mitchell Tigers (1-0) – KMOR 93.3 FM & KMORfm.com 6:30 pregame, 7 pm kickoff

This is a big barometer game for both these programs early in the season. In week one it was Gering winning at home over Torrington while Mitchell rolled over Wheatland to start the year. It’s the big offensive line and power rushing attack of the Tigers vs. some super talented skill kids for Gering.

Mitchell coach Nick Kuxhausen says no secret, his Tigers want to control the clock and run the ball

Gering HC Danny O’Boyle says getting off the field on third and fourth downs tonight will be crucial for his Bulldogs. Offensively last week Creighton Beals had over 100 yards rushing and blocked a punt for a touchdown and Bo Gable scored a pair of touchdowns.

Coach O’Boyle talks where they need to have success tonight to get a win
