April Scotts Bluff Co. alcohol checks see improved compliance rate

The Gering and Scottsbluff Police Departments, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, and Nebraska State Patrol collaborated in conducting alcohol compliance checks on April 20 and 27, 2024.  Sixty-Six businesses were checked resulting in two businesses found non-compliant.  This gives Scotts Bluff County a 3% Non-compliance rate. 

Chen’s Express Mart at 405 W. 27TH Street and WTT Essential Fuels at 822 S.  Beltline , both in Scottsbluff were cited on April 20, 2024, for selling alcohol to a 17- and an 18-year-old cooperative individual with one checking ID and the other not checking the identification.

“Over the years, our agency has remained committed to enforcing the underage drinking laws, and we intend to continue prioritizing such operations to protect the public from the consequences of underage drinking.  We are pleased that most of the businesses did not sale to minors.  However, we continue to be diligent in enforcing Nebraska underage drinking laws,” said Officer Gleim of the Gering Police Department. 

“Enforcement efforts will be heightened as we move into the summer season and with the graduation season upon us,” remarked Lanette Richards with Monument Prevention.  “We want everyone to have a safe season with their family and loved ones.”

This project is funded in part from a Block Grant through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, contracted through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health and the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
