Downtown Scottsbluff, on Saturday, Oct. 16, will have marching bands and zombies in the streets.

Saturday is the annual Old West Band Competition hosted by Scottsbluff Public Schools. The event will begin at 10 a.m. featuring eight middle school and high school bands marching down Broadway and the field competition at 1:15 p.m. at the Bearcat Stadium.

“It’s always an exciting time to have the Old Wast Weekend, and we have middle school and high school bands from around the region participating,” said Andrew Dick Scottsbluff Public Schools superintendent. “It’s always a fun day for students, families, and area communities.”

Along with the band competition, will be a parade of Zombies on Broadway.

The Organ Trail Zombie Invasion will include a free COVID vaccination clinic hosted by PPHD and Scottsbluff County Health Department from 8 to 10 a.m. The event will also include food trucks in the Plaza such as Lemon Love, Sancho’s Corn, Heather Lyn’s Bakery, and Pepa’s.

The Midwest Theater will host the Zombie Invasion, which will close two blocks of Broadway between 17th and 19th Street until 2 p.m. featuring food, dancing, music, a photo booth, and more throughout the day. A Zombie costume contest will be at 1 p.m. In addition, the Midwest’s concession will be open for fresh buttered popcorn.

A Zombie Walk down Broadway starts at 1:45 p.m. at the 1900 Block and ends at the 1700 block by the Midwest Theater for a group picture.

All zombies will receive a free movie pass to the Midwest/SkyView Drive-In.
