The world’s largest rodeo – the National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) – will be in Lincoln, Nebraska July 18-24.
The event will be hosted at the Lancaster Event Center over seven days.
Previously held in Gillette and Rick Springs, Wyoming, the NHSFR is the official world championship for high school rodeo athletes, making it the largest of its kind with 1,700 cowboys and cowgirls competing. Athletes can qualify for the July 18-24 rodeo in one or more of the 15 events that will take place.
NHSFR competitions include:
- Bull, Bareback and Saddle Bronc Riding
- Tie-Down and Breakaway Roping
- Steer Wrestling
- Goat Tying
- Pole Bending
- Barrel Racing
- Girls and Boys Cutting
- Reined Cow Horse
- Queen Contest
- Trap Shooting
- Light Rifle
The Lancaster Event Center has completed $7 million in renovations with the NHSFR in mind, according to Hoyt Kraeger, the Lancaster Event Center business development manager. Renovations include a new grandstand and outdoor arena.

The NHSFR will also take place in Lincoln in 2026 and 2027.
