With plenty of success over the last couple of seasons the Scottsbluff softball team is seeing some of the fruits of their labor with plenty of senior talent signing to play collegiately.

The latest to sign was Brady Laucomer, who inked with Chadron State on Monday night.

“That’s been my dream since I was four years old when I started playing t-ball. So it’s really special for me and my family that I get to continue at the collegiate level.”

Laucomer has been one of the top players in the region since stepping onto the field as a freshman and she’s a career record holder in numerous categories for the Scottsbluff program.

This past season she helped lead the Bearcats to a 29-9 record that culminated in a trip to the State Tournament. As a senior Laucomer hit .486 with 14 homers and 69 RBI while stealing 19 bases as the teams starting shortstop.

Helping turn Scottsbluff softball into a winning program is something Laucomer takes a lot of pride in.

“My freshman year to my senior year the program changed completely and it was obviously for the better. We became super competitive. The girls are really dedicated. I think that will continue as we see classes graduate and that’s really exciting.”

One of Laucomer’s high school teammates, Sasha Paez, will be joining here at Chadron State next fall. Paez made it official, signing just prior to Thanksgiving last week.

“When I went on my visit I got to also practice with the team and they made me feel like family as soon as I got there. I also do have some family that already go there (play football). Also, when I went the campus was just beautiful and they have the social work program that I want to go into.”

This past season as the Cats first baseman Paez batted .292 while driving in 18 runs. Paez says her and Laucomer are planning on being roommates at CSC.

Also at that same signing last week it was Scottsbluff starting catcher Reagan Churchill inking to continue her career at Hastings College.

“I’m very excited. It’s an amazing opportuinity itself just getting to continue my education at the next level let alone continuing to play softball.”

Churchill says playing for Coach Fox and Scottsbluff has prepared her tremendously for this next step. As a senior this past season Churchill hit .323 with a pair of homers and 12 RBI.

Not only these three ladies for Scottsbluff signing but the Alex Jones story was posted earlier and also there will be a future announcement on Angelica Anaya signing to play at a Region IX school.
