The Scottsbluff softball team dropped their first round game at the State Tournament in Hastings on Wednesday, falling to Wahoo by the final of 13-5 in five innings.

The 3rd seeded Warriors broke out the power bats as they connected on five homers in the game.

Scottsbluff took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but Wahoo answered right back to lead 3-1 after one inning.

In the second the Bearcats tied the game 3-3 but that tie was short lived with Wahoo scoring six times in the bottom of the frame and they’d lead from there on out.

In the loss Scottsbluff got homers from Mariyah Avila and Taryn Spady. That duo combined to go 5-7 with four RBI.

Liz Fuss took the loss in the circle.

Scottsbluff will get the rest of the day off and then tomorrow morning they’ll play Elkhorn in a elimination game at 8 am MT. Elkhorn got beat by Hastings in round one by the final of 11-2.

We’ll provide coverage on 106.9 The Trail and KHYYfm.com starting at 7:45.
