Pete Ricketts has thrown his support behind N-U Regent and agribusinessman Jim Pillen among the crowded field of candidates seeking the Republican nomination to be the next Governor of Nebraska.

Ricketts announced his endorsement of Pillen at a news conference at the State Capitol building Tuesday morning, before joining Pillen and former governor Kay Orr for a fly-around tour of the state.

He said Pillen has consistently shown he’s a leader of principle and integrity, and Nebraska will be in great hands with Pillen as the next governor.

Following the announcement, Charles Herbster said it was ‘disappointing’ Ricketts was supporting a candidate with a weak record on illegal immigration and critical race theory, and the current Governor should focus on serving the needs of Nebraska, not hand-picking his successor.
