Nebraska Native gets his shot in the NFL

Nebraska native Ryan Langan signed a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Chargers last week. Langan who is from Cedar Rapids played six man football at Riverside before starring at Georgia Southern. He had more than 500 snaps in college without a miscue and was named a third team All American. He spoke with the Rural Radio Network’s Jayson Jorgensen about this chance to play in the NFL. Langan had the quite the four year career at Georgia Southern.

Played in all 13 games as the team’s starting long snapper … A finalist for the Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper of the Year Award … A third-team All-American and first-team All-Sun Belt selection by Phil Steele … An honorable mention All-Sun Belt Conference selection … Handled every snap but the final PAT of the season to allow another senior to get his first collegiate snap … Was on the field for 118 snaps … Made the President’s List in the fall for making a perfect 4.00 GPA.

2019-20: Played in all 13 games as the special team’s long snapper … A Second-Team All-Sun Belt selection by Phil Steele … Handled every punt, field goal and PAT snap for the entire season … Was on the field for 132 snaps … Named to the 2019-20 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll for maintaining a 3.00-3.49 GPA.
2018-19: Played in all 13 games as the special teams long snapper … Handled every punt, field goal and PAT snap for the entire season … Was on the field for 128 snaps … Had one tackle … Had the perfect snap for the game-winner as time expired for the Eagles to win the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl on a 40-yard field goal.

2017-18: Played in all 12 games as the special teams long snapper … Handled every punt, field goal and PAT snap for the entire season … Was on the field for 116 snaps … Played a season-high 14 snaps against South Alabama and 13 snaps against Auburn … Made the Dean’s List in the fall … Named to the 2017-18 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll for maintaining a 3.00-3.49 GPA.

This past season, Langan started all 13 games. He was also a Patrick Mannely award finalist, plus named to the Phil Steele All-American third team and All-Sun Belt Conference first team.
