Following Alliance Police investigation of drug distribution activity throughout the city Thursday, officials say an alleged drug dealer is behind bars.

Police Chief Philip Lukens says the investigation led to the Quality Inn, which is part of the Alliance Police Hotel Partnership Program, and assisted in the process.

Lukens says around 11 a.m., Alliance officers assisted by Box Butte County Sheriff’s deputies, the Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Game and Parks, executed a search warrant on a hotel room, arresting an adult male.

A search of the room uncovered a firearm, over $2,000 cash, methamphetamine, and at least 75 fentanyl pills, with the seizure including a car related to the case.

Lukens thanked community members, businesses and churches for stepping up and helping prevent crime and disorder, and said the community is seeing progress against drugs in the area. He said he especially wanted to thank the Quality Inn for accommodating law enforcement to ensure the safety of all who were in the business at the time.
