After serving on the Western Community College Area Board of Governors for more than 30 years, Dr. Tom Perkins is honored for his decades of service.
Perkins resigned September 1st from his at-large seat, and during Wednesday’s meeting he talked about the impact that education had on him.
He said he barely graduated high school, but a Methodist Minister pulled some strings and secured Perkins a college scholarship, and learned the power that higher education can have.
Board President Lynn Koskie presented Dr. Perkins with a plaque thanking him for his tenure on the board, and board member Coral Richards thanked Dr. Perkins for the mentorship that he provided her over the years. Dozens of well-wishers were on hand as well during the ceremony.
Perkins still remains serving as chair of the City of Scottsbluff Civil Service Commission.
