Patchwork of the Prairie

Speaker Yvonne Hollenbeck will present a program “Patchwork of the Prairie” on March 23, 2023 at 6pm in the community room at the Alliance Public Library. This presentation is made possible by Humanities Nebraska, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and the Alliance Public Library Foundation as part of the HN Speakers Bureau. Yvonne Hollenbeck is an award-winning quilter and the nation’s top award-winning cowgirl poet as well as one of the most published. Yvonne presents an entertaining trunk-show of approximately 30 family quilts made on the prairies of Nebraska, spanning 5 generations, providing a glimpse of life during the past 135 years through patchwork. The stories behind both the quilters and the quilts themselves are shared and accompanied with some of Hollenbeck’s own cowboy/cowgirl poetry.
