KAAPA Ethanol Weekly Crop Progress Report for 11-20-23

About 7% of corn was left to harvest at the end of last week, while the soybean harvest has mostly wrapped up, according to USDA NASS’ weekly Crop Progress report released Monday.

Corn was 93% harvested, slightly ahead of the five-year average of 91%.

Winter wheat was 95% planted and 87% emerged. Winter wheat condition was rated 48% good to excellent, up 1 percentage point from 47% the previous week.

Nebraska:

For the week ending November 19, 2023, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 23% very short, 32% short, 43% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 28% very short, 36% short, 35% adequate, and 1% surplus.


Field Crops Report: Corn harvested was 95%, near 98% last year and 93% for the five-year
average. Winter wheat condition rated 2% very poor, 7% poor, 37% fair, 38% good, and 16% excellent.
Sorghum harvested was 95%, near 97% last year and 93% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 12% very poor, 17% poor, 37%
fair, 29% good, and 5% excellent.

Kansas:

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 28% very short, 40% short, 30% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 34% very short, 40% short, 26% adequate, and 0% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 16% very poor, 16% poor, 35% fair, 30% good, and
3% excellent. Winter wheat emerged was 91%, ahead of 80% last year and 85% for the five-year average.
Soybeans harvested was 96%, equal to last year, and ahead of 91% average. Sorghum harvested was 95%, near 94% last year, and ahead of 88% average. Cotton harvested was 73%, behind 84% last year, but well ahead of 50% average. Sunflowers harvested was 90%, near 92% last year and 89% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 21% very poor, 34% poor, 33% fair, 11%
good, and 1% excellent.
