Despite recent rain across Nebraska, the state still has a majority of its soil in very short to short condition ratings, according to the June 5 USDA Crop Progress Report.
In Nebraska, topsoil moisture is rated 53% very short to short, 44% adequate and just 3% surplus.
Nebraska’s subsoil moisture ratings prove to be an even worse case, with 71% of the state’s subsoil moisture rated very short to short, 29% adequate and 0% surplus.
