GRAND ISLAND – A second grade student at Anselmo-Merna is heading to the national pedal pull championships for the third year in a row.

Saylor Foley was one of 835 competitors at the pedal pull state championships Sunday at the Nebraska State Fair. Foley was one of 76 pullers in the seven-year-old girls division.

Foley had a full pull in her first attempt, which put her in a pull-off with the other top two pullers. Foley finished in third place and qualified for nationals.

Last year, Foley placed eighth 27 six-year-old girls at nationals, representing 15 states from across the country.

The 2024 National Pedal Pull Championships will take place on September 28 at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.
