December 28th, 2022

As producers continue to be impacted by drought, many are turning to sorghum as a more drought-resilient crop.

Nate Blum, executive director of the Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board (NeGSB), said since 2020, sorghum acres in Nebraska have increased by 99%.

Blum said NeGSB traveled domestically, nationally and internationally to educate consumers about the many uses of sorghum and build relationships with customers.

In 2022, Blum said the sorghum industry saw increased interest from processors using sorghum in more products, including Gerber baby food, pet food, and industrial fuel products.
