Wisner-Pilger Football earns win over Pender
September 23rd, 2022 | Jeff Axtell

The Wisner-Pilger Football Team won 44-32 at Pender Friday night.

The Gators led 8-7 after one and 24-20 at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger blanked the Pendragons 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 32-20 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 12 points in the 4th quarter.

The defense gave up 288 yards of total offense, including 199 on the ground.

Great win for the Gators!

Wisner-Pilger (3-1) hosts Bancroft-Rosalie (1-3) Friday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Panthers won 62-28 at home over rival Lyons-Decatur Northeast last week.

BRLD and Wisner-Pilger met in 2016 and 2017 in 11-man, but Bancroft-Rosalie and Wisner-Pilger have never met in Football until now.

I give the Gators the advantage being a full former 11-man team and being at home in this one, but the Panthers can definitely pack some punch.

Bancroft-Rosalie could make this one close and interesting in my estimation.

Wisner-Pilger has a huge game at Stanton next week, a game that could very well decide the District, but the Gators have to be focused on Bancroft-Rosalie this week.

Wisner-Pilger can’t get caught looking ahead, and I don’t think they will.

The Gators have to play like they did last week.

If Wisner-Pilger plays the way they did against Pender then I don’t see how there’s any way that they lose.

That is unless the Panthers play off the charts and out of their minds, which can always happen.

With that said, I look for the Gators to win this week when it’s all said and done.

Kickoff from Wisner is set for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame at 6:30.
