...Winter Storm to Impact the area on Friday into Saturday
Morning...

.A winter storm will sweep from north-northwest to south-
southeast and deposit significant snow across parts of Iowa. Far
eastern Nebraska will see lesser amounts. Travel may become
difficult, especially on west/east roads in rural areas. Winds
with gusts up to 40 mph, visibility will be reduced with blowing
and drifting snow.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM FRIDAY TO
6 AM CST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Light freezing rain possible Friday
  morning. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches in western
  Iowa with 2 to 4 inches in eastern Nebraska. Winds gusting as
  high as 40 mph Friday night.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Iowa.

* WHEN...Light freezing rain or sleet is possible Friday morning.
  Snow begins Friday afternoon and continues through 6 AM
  Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions and periods of
  reduced visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the
  morning or evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest
Iowa...west central Iowa...east central Nebraska...northeast
Nebraska and southeast Nebraska.

.DAY ONE...Tonight and Friday

Light freezing rain and sleet showers will develop between 5 AM
and 10 AM on Friday morning. While the showers will be light, it
may be enough to cause some hazardous travel conditions,
particularly on any untreated bridges and overpasses.

Accumulating snow will fall Friday afternoon through Friday night
with snow accumulations heaviest in Iowa where several inches of
snow are expected. Lesser amounts of snow are expected with
westward extent into Nebraska. Gusty winds along with the snow
will result in reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions,
particularly Friday afternoon through Friday evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday night through Thursday

Snow and blowing snow will continue into Friday night, ending from
north to south across the area by around sunrise on Saturday.

Spotters are encouraged to send winter weather reports to the
National Weather Service.
