The Winnebago Football Team bounced back from the loss to Todd County, SD, and won 60-6 at Tiopsa Zina, SD Friday night.

Antrell Harlan carried the ball 11 times for 175 yards and scored three times while Destin Vargas had 143 yards rushing on 10 carries, including 3 TD’s.

Vargas was 3-5 passing for 64 yards and a TD.

Winnebago had 384 yards of total offense, including 320 on the ground.

The defense held Tiopsa Zina to just 10 yards of total offense.

Wow!

Great job by the Indians.

Winnebago (4-1) battles Flandreau, SD (0-5) on the road Friday night.

Flandreau lost 42-6 at home to St. Francis, SD last week.

Bago blanked St. Francis 60-0 earlier this season so the Indians should have no trouble or problems in this one whatsoever.

Winnebago should go into Flandreau and leave with a big win.

I felt like the Indians responded extremely well last week.

Bago followed up their first loss of the year by holding their opponent to 10 yards of total offense.

If that’s not stepping up your game I don’t know what is.

You never want to say a loss is a good thing, but maybe losing to Todd County intensified and raised Winnebago’s level of play.

That remains to be seen and is something we may not find out until the playoffs, but the Indians appear to be well on their way to having a shot at another All Nations League Title.

That would be pretty special for these kids if they could get it so Bago has to keep working hard and must also keep playing hard and smart.

There’s a lot for the Indians to accomplish yet this season so Winnebago has to remain hungry.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
