The Winnebago Boys Basketball Team upset Wayne 57-48 in the C1-6 Sub-District Final in Wayne last Thursday night before falling 71-51 at Ashland-Greenwood in Monday night’s District Final.

The Indians led the Blue Devils 14-13 at the end of the 1st quarter before Wayne won the 2nd quarter 13-7 to take a 26-21 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago won the 3rd quarter 14-10 to make it a 36-35 game at the end of three.

The Indians outscored the Blue Devils 22-12 in the 4th quarter.

Dyami Berridge had 20 points while Tyrese Lovejoy added 13. Duran Blackfish was also in double figures with 12 while Kevin Tebo notched 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Bluejays led 13-11 after the 1st quarter and 26-19 at halftime.

Ashland-Greenwood outscored Bago 27-14 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 53-33 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 18 points in the 4th quarter.

Lovejoy had 16 points while Blackfish registered 15. Berridge was also in double figures with 11.

Heck of a season for Winnebago.

The Indians end their year at 15-11.

Lovejoy averaged 18 points per game for the season while Berridge and Blackfish had 17 and 15, respectively.

Departing Seniors include Blackfish, Tebo, Lovejoy, Destin Vargas, Berridge, and Warrick Lonewolf.

This was a very talented Senior Class that meant a lot to Winnebago Boys Basketball and will be sorely missed.

Those players were the main contributors and guys for the team this year so I’m not sure who all the Indians will feature next year.

Winnebago just seems to reload year in and year out though so I’m sure the Indians will continue to perform at a high level in the future.

Replacing this year’s Departing Seniors won’t be easy though as these kids played a lot of ball together.

It simply means new players will have to step up and emerge next year, which I’m sure will be the case.
