Wayne, Neb. — After sweeping the #1 team in the country last Friday evening in Wayne, the Wayne State College volleyball team is the newest #1 team in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Monday afternoon. The 8-1 Wildcats received 26 first-place votes and 1,144 points and is ranked #1 in the nation for the eighth time in program history (WSC was #1 for five straight weeks last season – September 19-October 17) – and twice in the 2010 season.
Wayne State downed Concordia-St. Paul 25-19, 28-26, 25-21 Friday evening in their lone match last week. The ‘Cats host Chadron State Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. in a non-conference match followed by NSIC road matches this weekend at Sioux Falls Friday (6 p.m.) and at #9 Southwest Minnesota State Saturday at 4 p.m.
