Lincoln – In a move that has been in the works for awhile, former Nebraska head coach Frank Solich is returning to Memorial Stadium. The former coach and player will be honored at the spring game April 22nd, there will also be a special announcement at the game regarding Solich. Athletic Director Trev Alberts made the announcement last night on the Huskers Radio Network.
Alberts also announced that 52,000 tickets have been sold for the game. Solich guided the program to its last conference championship in 1999 and its last appearance in a national championship game. As a player, Solich was one of coach Bob Devaney’s early recruits and became an all-big eight fullback and co-captain of the 1965 team that played for the national championship.
