December 5th, 2022 | Jeff Axtell

The North Bend Central Girls Basketball Team is 1-1 to start the year as the Tigers lost 48-41 at Bishop Neumann in Thursday night’s season opener before winning 51-41 at Class B Seward on Saturday.

The Tigers led the Cavaliers 12-10 at the end of one and 19-16 at halftime.

Neumann won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to climb in front 31-30 at the end of three.

The Cavaliers won the 4th quarter 17-11.

The Tigers led the Bluejays 8-4 after one before Seward won the 2nd quarter 18-14 to tie the game at 22 at halftime.

North Bend Central outscored the Bluejays 12-1 in the 3rd quarter to take a 34-23 lead into the 4th quarter.

Seward won the 4th quarter 18-17.

Great 3rd quarter and offense and defense from the Tigers against the Bluejays.

North Bend Central (1-1) hosts Malcolm (2-0) Tuesday night.

The Clippers won 60-33 at home over Auburn on Saturday.

Malcolm appears to be the real deal.

I think the difference in this game could come down to which team is better on both ends of the floor.

So far through two games the Clippers have proven to be the more explosive and dominant team.

One could argue the Tigers have played tougher teams so far though.

This game is in North Bend too and the Tigers are the 3-time defending Class C-1 State Champs.

It’s time for North Bend Central to really dig in and get physical and try and throw Malcolm off of their game.

The Tigers have to slow the pace of this game down and control pace and tempo and play at their speed.

North Bend Central has to dictate pace and tempo and try and limit the Clippers’ fast break and run and gun opportunities.

The Tigers have to be the tougher team both mentally and physically as well.
