Overview:
The North Bend Central Girls Basketball Team expects to reload this year after winning back-to-back State Championships. Head Coach Aaron Sterup.
The Tigers return two starters and All-Staters Sydney Emanuel (5’7, SR G), who averaged 16 points a game last year and Kaitlyn Emanuel (6’0, JR W), who averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds a game a season ago.
Other returning letterwinners/newcomers include Madelyn Gaughen (5’9, SR W), Madison Bishop (5’6, JR G), Josie Cleveringa (5’9, SO W), Aleya Bourek (5’6, SR G), Lindsey Emanuel (5’7, FR G), and Haley Johnson (5’6, SR G).
Coach Sterup adds his team will be very competitive. Although they have a lot to replace the replacements they have are very capable.
Season Outlook:
I honestly expect North Bend Central to compete for a 3rd straight State Championship.
The Tigers could 3-peat, and if they did that would be magnificent.
Coach Sterup says the East Husker Conference Tournament is kind of like a mini State Tournament, and if you can survive that you’ve really accomplished something.
I asked Coach Sterup about expecting to win quite a few tournaments this year, and he simply said that’s not the focus.
The Tigers open up the season on December 2nd at Twin River. Coach Sterup previews the matchup.
North Bend Central is in Sub-District C1-6 with West Point-Beemer, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, Arlington, and Fort Calhoun.
