The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Girls Basketball Team lost 60-31 at home to Stanton on Saturday before downing Madison 37-30 at home Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Mustangs led the Cougars 21-14 after one, and quadrupled up Lyons-Decatur Northeast 12-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-17 lead into the locker room.

Stanton won the 3rd quarter 12-7 to extend their lead to 45-24 at the end of three.

The Mustangs outscored the Cougars 15-7 in the 4th quarter.

Avery Bacon had 12 points while Aubrey Andersen notched 7.

The Dragons led 14-5 after one before the Cougars outscored Madison 16-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-17 lead into the locker room.

The Dragons won the 3rd quarter 6-5 to make it a 26-23 game at the end of three.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast won the 4th quarter 11-7.

Tavyanna Parker had 13 points and 17 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Bacon posted 11 points and 7 rebounds.

The Cougars (4-14) take on Pender (17-2) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Pender Friday night.

The Pendragons defeated Tri County Northeast 54-20 at home Tuesday night.

Pender beat LDNE 65-13 in Lyons on January 5th.

This is an awfully tough and difficult matchup for the Cougars coming in.

I will say one thing though…I think LDNE has the potential to play the Pendragons tougher than they did the first time around.

It’s the Conference Tournament, and I fully expect the Cougars to step up their game and raise their level of play come Friday night.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Pender.
