November 24th, 2021 | Jeff Axtell

Team: Logan View/Scribner-Snyder

Mascot: Raiders

Colors: Blue and Gold

Conference: Nebraska Capitol

Head Coach: Erin Johnson (2nd season)

2020-2021 record: 8-15 (Lost to Arlington in Sub-Districts)

Returning Starters: 3

Overview:

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls Basketball Team returns 3 starters from last year’s team. The returners are Sophia Vacha (5’9, JR P), who averaged 9 points and 7 rebounds per game last year, Grace Schlueter (5’9, JR F), who averaged 9 points a game last year, and Cadynce Stockamp (5’8, JR G).

Other returning letterwinners/newcomers include Cailey Stout (P 5’8 Sr)., Karlie Hansen (G 5’5 Sr)., Kaitlin Mundil (F 5’9, JR), Elli Christianson (PG 5’5 So), Rebekka Jay (F 5’8 Sr), and Brooklyn Reynolds (G 5’8 Sr).

Head Coach Erin Johnson says the team is looking pretty solid. “Super optimistic about this team. They’ve played a lot of basketball since last season and have grown/expanded their skills and knowledge of the game. We return our top scorer and rebounder in Sophia Vacha. Grace Schlueter will lead us on the defensive end, while also being a scorer. We’ll look to our seniors to guide us and keep our intensity and enthusiasm high. A handful of underclassmen could also step in and play a role for us.”

The Raiders won some games early last year and kept quite a few close, and I think that was a start for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

Coach Johnson says that helps going into this year.

I would agree with Coach Johnson in that I think the Raiders can build off of what they did last season.

Season Outlook:

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder opens up the season at Oakland-Craig on December 2nd. Coach Johnson says being efficient on offense will be key.

I think things will be low scoring and defensive in this one.

The Raiders are in Sub-District C1-6 with West Point-Beemer, North Bend Central, Columbus Scotus, and Columbus Lakeview.

I think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can and will be competitive throughout the season, and in particular the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament in Sub-Districts.

The Raiders have a chance to really grow and improve throughout the course of the season I feel.

I feel like winning those close games could really make a difference for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder this year.
