The Howells-Dodge Boys Basketball Team fell 62-56 at home to Bancroft-Rosalie in the D1-4 Sub-District Final last Thursday before winning 56-34 over Bridgeport in the D1-6 District Final from Lexington last Monday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Panthers led the Jaguars 15-10 after the 1st quarter before Howells-Dodge won the 2nd quarter 16-15 to make it a 30-26 game at halftime.
Bancroft-Rosalie won the 3rd quarter 17-14 to extend their lead to 47-40 at the end of three.
The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 16-15.
Howells-Dodge led the Bulldogs 15-9 after the 1st quarter, and doubled up Bridgeport 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-17 lead into the locker room.
The Bulldogs won the 3rd quarter 12-11 to make it a 42-29 game at the end of three.
The Jaguars outscored Bridgeport 14-5 in the 4th quarter.
It is the 3rd straight year and the 4th out of the last 5 years that Howells-Dodge has qualified for State!
The Jaguars (20-6) take on Johnson-Brock (22-4) in the first round of State at the Devaney Center Wednesday night in action that will be aired on the Bull.
The Eagles won 51-19 at home over Sandy Creek in the D1-3 District Final last Monday night.
Johnson-Brock is the real deal.
The two teams have a common opponent in Mead.
The Eagles beat the Raiders 74-36 while the Jaguars downed Mead 64-50.
Howells-Dodge also played Sandy Creek and beat the Cougars 47-22.
This should be a heck of a game.
It’s a tough draw for the Jaguars though.
Howells-Dodge will have to try and slow down Camden Dalinghaus, who averages 13 points per game.
The Jaguars definitely have a tough battle on their hands, but I feel Howells-Dodge’s state experience will really help them and come into play in this one.
It should be a great game.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. on the Bull.
