Cincinnati, Ohio — Creighton Baseball’s series opening game at Xavier was suspended by lightning in the top of the seventh with the Bluejays batting and holding a 7-5 lead on Friday, April 12.

It was Xavier that struck first with a solo home run in the bottom of the first off the bat of Hayden Christiansen.

Creighton seized the lead with four runs in the third, got a two-run blast in the fourth from Teddy Deters and a solo home run from Cuyler Zukowski in the seventh. The Bluejays’ tallies in the third were aided by Musketeer wildness. Ben North opened the inning with a single up the middle, a one out double from Nolan Sailors, put runners at second and third. Consecutive walks to Deters and Nolan Clifford knotted the game at 1-1. An RBI single from Jack Grace and an RBI walk from Will MacLean, while Zukowski lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.

Four of the Musketeers five runs came on solo blasts by Christiansen, Jake Lambin and Luke Hsmmond in the third and from Aedan Anderson in the sixth.

Zukowski’s blast came with one down in the seventh, giving Creighton a two-run edge at 7-5. Hogan Helligso followed with a single, before lightning brought the game to a halt.

Friday’s game will be resumed at 12:00 pm (CT) on Saturday, April 13 before the regularly scheduled second game of the series.
