OMAHA, Neb. — No. 24 Creighton Volleyball owned a 12-0 advantage in blocks and served eight aces in a 3-0 victory against visiting Georgetown on Friday, Oct. 22. Scores of Creighton’s annual Pink Out match were 25-14, 25-17, 25-16.

Reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Norah Sis owned her fourth straight double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs while Abby Bottomley had 14 digs and five aces for the Bluejays. Creighton (19-3, 7-2 BIG EAST) hit .333 and finished with 40 kills, eight aces, 44 digs and 12 blocks.

Georgetown (5-15, 1-8 BIG EAST) was paced by nine kills from Peyton Wilhite. The Hoyas hit .052 overall and finished with 26 kills, three aces and 43 digs but became Creighton’s first opponent since Bradley in 2010 to not record a block.

Georgetown led 11-10 in the first set before Bottomley served up a 6-0 run that featured back-to-back aces. After a Hoyas sideout, Creighton responded with the next four points in a row to emerge with a 19-11 advantage. CU closed out the set when Kiana Schmitt and Naomi Hickman teamed up on a block.  Creighton hit .360 with four aces in the opening frame and GU was led by five kills from Giselle Williams.

Creighton didn’t trail in the second set. CU led 8-7 before Bottomley served up two more aces in a 6-0 run and the lead stretched to double-figures at 19-9 on an ace from Ellie BoltonAbbey Milner’s first kill inside D.J. Sokol Arena finished off the second set.  Sis had four kills and four digs for CU in the second set.

Georgetown served an ace to start the third set, but that would be its final lead of the night. The set was tied at 6-6 before Kendra Wait unleashed a 9-0 serving spurt that included a pair of blocks by Hickman. Hickman also put down a kill on match point. Creighton had 15 kills and hit .333 in the final set and six Bluejay blocks helped limit Georgetown to -.030 hitting in 33 swings.

Creighton returns to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Villanova (12-9, 4-5 BIG EAST).
