Derek Merwick was one steal shy of recording a quadrupole double in CCC’s 100-39 home win over the Doane University JV on Tuesday night.

Merwick (pictured) scored 23 points, hauled in 10 rebounds, dished out a dozen assists and recorded nine steals in a game that was never in doubt. The Raiders held the Tigers scoreless for a near five-minute span late in the first half and went on to lead 50-23 at halftime. CCC rattled off a 12-run to open the second half to go up by 39 points. The Raiders held the Tigers to 16 points in the second half and led by as many as 66.

PJ Davis scored 19 points while Gil Jengmer scored 13 points. Preston Thomas finished with a dozen points.

“We haven’t really played well for a full game in a long time, so it was good to see that happen,” said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. “Derek had an incredible game and PJ and Preston shot well off the bench which we will need more of going forward. Overall, I was really happy with how we played.”

The 14-7 Raiders will return to action on Saturday at Iowa Western Community College. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
