The Central Community College men’s basketball team defeated Concordia University JV, 71-51, on Thursday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.

The Raiders built a 12-point lead in the first half on the strength of a 20-7 run over six and a half minutes to take a 29-17 lead with just under nine minutes to play. CCC went on to lead 40-31 at the half.

The Raiders clamped down on defense to open the second half with a 12-0 run, holding the Bulldogs scoreless until the 12:13 mark. Central led by as many as 23 points and held Concordia to 3-32 from three-point range.

“I was especially pleased with how we defended the three-point line,” said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. “We need to have better pace and flow offensively, but we made up for some of that by crashing the offensive glass.”

Kevin CookDwight Glover Jr., and Gavin Lipovsky each score 12 points apiece to lead the Raiders. Cook also pulled down 16 rebounds. Jayden Byabato finished with 10 points.

The Raiders are 10-5 and will host Southwestern Community College on Saturday. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
