BANCROFT – The BRLD Boys and Girls Basketball Teams met up with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in Bancroft Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

It was the Wolverines winning the Girls Game 72-63 and the Bulldogs taking the boys contest 75-40.

To use an old cliche it was a tale of two halfs in the Girls Game as Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family went on a 9-0 run to turn an 11-10 lead into a 20-10 lead late in the 1st quarter. BRLD added 3 points before the quarter expired, and the Bulldogs led 20-13 after one.

The Wolverines chipped away in the 2nd quarter, winning the frame 17-12 to close within 2 at 32-30 at halftime.

BRLD turned in a big second half, outscoring Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 21-12 in the 3rd quarter to pull ahead 51-44 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 21-19 to pick up the win.

A big reason for BRLD’s big second half was the play of Jordan Snyder. The 6’2 Senior post scored 28 of her game-high 37 points in the final 16 minutes, including a 16-19 effort at the free throw line.

Alyssa Buchholz and Addison James each added 10 for the Wolverines.

Addison Schneider scored 26 for Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, including 16 in the 1st half while Paige Beller and Halle Beller each scored 9. Lexi Frauendorfer added 7.

BRLD improves to 11-3 on the season and takes on Stanton on the road Saturday while the Bulldogs fall to 13-3 on the year and host Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

In the boys game, the Wolverines hung with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the 1st half, trailing 19-11 at the end of one and 40-30 at halftime.

The second half, particularly the 3rd quarter, was unkind to BRLD, however, as the Bulldogs blanked the Wolverines 18-0 in the 3rd quarter to build a 58-30 lead at the end of three.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the 4th quarter 17-10.

Jacob Sjuts led the Bulldogs with a game-high 22 points while Jason Sjuts added 18. Cooper Beller was also in double figures with 14 while Kyle Preister chipped in 7.

Elliott Nottlemann paced BRLD with 15 points while Samuel Dick notched 8.

The Wolverines fall to 3-10 on the season and travel to Stanton on Saturday while Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family improves to 15-0 on the year and hosts Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.
