September 23rd, 2022 | Jeff Axtell

The Bancroft-Rosalie Football Team won 62-28 at home over rival Lyons-Decatur Northeast Friday night.

The game was tied at 14-all after the 1st quarter before the Panthers exploded in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Cougars 28-6 in the period to take a 42-20 lead into the locker room.

Bancroft-Rosalie added to their lead in the 3rd quarter, blanking LDNE 13-0 to go up 55-20.

The Cougars won the 4th quarter 8-7.

Michael Cooney had 13 carries for 135 yards and two TD’s. Graysen Briggs carried the ball 6 times for 85 yards and scored twice.

Cooney was 7-10 passing for 94 yards with 3 TD’s and an INT.

Elliott Nottlemann hauled in 5 passes for 80 yards, and scored 3 times.

Jackson Cooney made 10 tackles while Ross Tremayne had 9. Mason Dolezal and Hunter Carpenter added 7 apiece.

The Panthers racked up 386 yards of total offense, 292 coming on the ground.

Great win for Bancroft-Rosalie.

The Panthers (1-3) travel to Wisner to take on Wisner-Pilger (3-1) Friday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Gators won 44-32 at Pender last week.

Wisner-Pilger has proven to be a very good team this year.

Bancroft-Rosalie definitely has a battle on their hands in this one.

It’s an interesting matchup in that BRLD and Wisner-Pilger played as 11-man teams in 2016 and 2017.

But these two teams have never met as Bancroft-Rosalie and Wisner-Pilger.

It should be a fun and unique game and atmosphere from that standpoint.

I give the Gators the edge having been a full 11-man program if you may and being at home, but the win over the Cougars last week should help the Panthers’ confidence coming into this one.

Michael Cooney, Nottlemann, Briggs, and others need to have good and big games for Bancroft-Rosalie.

The Panthers have to play mistake and error free Football in this one.

Bancroft-Rosalie has to make Wisner-Pilger drive the length of the field and earn their points….the Panthers can’t give up big plays.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame starting at 6:30.
