Wayne State volleyball named #2 seed for NCAA Central Region Tournament

Wayne, Neb. — Wayne State College was announced as the #2 seed in the NCAA Central Region Volleyball Tournament as pairings for the NCAA Division II National Volleyball Tournament were announced Monday evening by the NCAA.  It’s the second straight year and 13th time overall that the Wildcat program has qualified for the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

Wayne State is 28-2 on the season and will face #7 seed Minnesota Duluth (18-10) in a first-round match at St. Paul, Minnesota on Thursday, November 30th with game time to be announced at a later date.  The Wildcats and Bulldogs met once this season – in Duluth on September 30th – with WSC winning 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.

NSIC Tournament champion Concordia-St. Paul was awarded the top seed and will host the Central Region Tournament November 30-December 2.

Automatic NCAA Tournament bids were awarded to CSP, Great American Conference champion Oklahoma Baptist and Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association champion Central Missouri.  At-large bids were awarded to Wayne State, Southwest Minnesota State, St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth from the NSIC along with Nebraska-Kearney from the MIAA.

First Round – Thursday, November 30th

#1 seed Concordia St. Paul (28-2) vs. #8 seed Oklahoma Baptist (22-8)

#2 seed Wayne State (28-2) vs. #7 seed Minnesota Duluth (18-10)

#3 seed Southwest Minnesota State (23-6) vs. #6 seed Nebraska-Kearney (28-5)

$4 seed Central Missouri (24-7) vs. #5 seed St. Cloud State (22-8)
