Marlon B. Meyer, 97, of West Point, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Colonial Haven in Beemer. Funeral Service will be 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 21 at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Cuming County Line with PMA Bob Ball officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery with coffee and cookies following at the church hall. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with family receiving friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Marlon Burton Meyer was born May 17, 1925 to Herman and Alma (Einemann) Meyer on a farm south of West Point in Cuming County. He attended country school finishing his education at West Point Public Schools and enjoyed playing softball on his church team. Marlon enlisted in the United States Army on March 29, 1946, and served as a Mechanic. He was proud to receive a World War II Victory Medal prior to his honorable discharge in August, 1947. Marlon married Marion Kahrs on May 15, 1954 at Grace Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on her parents’ farm east of West Point where they continued farming and raised their family.

Marlon and Marion enjoyed country music and often traveled to Ainsworth and Wahoo for the annual Country Music Festivals. Fishing was a favorite pastime, as well as bowling, hunting, playing sheepshead, pinochle and pitch and sharing a cup of coffee with friends and family.

Survivors include daughter, Sandra (Gerald) Brunnert of West Point, son, Kenny (Donna) of West Point, grandson Richard Albanese, granddaughter Lois (Devin) Bethune, great-granddaughters Adrianna and Aurora Bethune, sister-in-law Marcella Picha, many nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marion, his parents, infant son Dale, and siblings, Ormand (Nancy), Ewald, Velva (Pete) Slusar, Yura (Suzanne), Norbert, Urdeen Pellet, Ardo (Willa Mae “Kinky”), and Ival (Advin “Aggie”), brothers-in-law Richard Picha and Dennis Kahrs, and parents-in-law Irwin and Margaret Kahrs.
