SEWARD, Neb. – The #3 York Duke football team improved their record to 6-2, and essentially claimed the District B3 title, after a back-and-forth 42-40 victory of the #5 Seward Bluejays Friday evening.

On the campus of Concordia University, defense reigned supreme in the first half. Score at halftime, just 8-7 Seward.

However, the Second-half was a different story. Offense came full-swing for both teams, on the ground and through the air. Together, the Dukes and Bluejays combine to put up 67 second-half points.

The last two minutes of the game was absolutely riveting. Seward trailed York  35-33 when Joseph Krause pushed his Seward offense down the field from deep in his own territory with help from his leading receiver Brett Meyer. Krause capped off the nearly 90-yard drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Carson Core with just 52 seconds of play remaining. The ensuing Duke drive saw Garrett Snodgrass come into his own. Snodgrass was in the driver seat for a 75-yard game-winning drive that saw exquisite play calling from the York sideline . It was all capped off by 5-yard touchdown run by Snodgrass with just 8 seconds remaining in the game to seal it for the Dukes. Final score: York 42, Seward 40.

Garrett Snodgrass finished with 126 yards rushing and three touchdowns to lead his team in rushing. He also threw for over 250 yards and two scores, both to Brady Danielson. It was Snodgrass’s third game this season with five total touchdowns, bringing his season total to 32 touchdowns.

For Seward, Joseph Krause showed why he is one of the best in Class B. He threw for over 450 yards and four touchdowns, to three different receivers.

Up next York welcome to Crete to East Hill Stadium for their season finale, while Seward travels south to Beatrice.
