Wayne State’s Harris named to D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Team

Glenn Harris of Wayne State College was named to the CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Team announced Friday morning by the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association, earning Second Team honors on defense. The D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Team is voted on by sports information directors from Region 4. It’s the second straight season a Wildcat defensive back collected All-Region honors after Cam Montgomery was Second Team All-Region last season.

Harris, a 6-1, 180 pound senior defensive back from Kansas City, Missouri, was a First Team All-NSIC South Division selection this season after leading Wayne State and the NSIC with eight interceptions this season, which was tied for second in NCAA Division II. His eight interceptions also tied a single season school record shared by Steve Besch (1984) and Charlie Wendt (1970). Harris also tied for third in the NSIC this season with 12 passes defended.

Harris made interceptions in six games this season that included a season-best three interceptions at Augustana September 30th that tied a single game school record held by four other players. He also recorded interceptions vs. Mary, Minnesota Duluth, at Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul and Upper Iowa.

Harris had 34 tackles including 27 solo stops this season to go with 2.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four breakups. He recorded a season best six tackles, all solo, at #1 Minnesota State November 4th.

Wayne State finished the season at 6-5 overall and fourth in the NSIC South with a 4-3 divisional mark. It was the first winning season for the Wildcats since 2012.
