Tekamah-Herman took the lead in the bottom of the fifth and hung on to defeat Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells 14-12 in Ralph Bishop League Juniors Tournament action at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Arlington Wednesday evening.
The winning pitcher in relief for Tekamah-Herman was Gavin Noel. He went 1.1 innings, allowing one hit and no runs while striking out three and did not walk a batter. Chauncey Rogers and Clay Beaumont entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game, with Beaumont recording the final four outs to earn the save for the Tigers.
Luke Wakehouse started the game on the mound for the Tiger Juniors, giving up seven runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out five.
Charlie Dvorak took the loss for the W-P/D-H Juniors, allowing 14 runs on 19 hits over six innings while striking out seven and walking one.
Jed Hoover, Clay Beaumont & Luke Wakehouse each went 3-4 to lead the Tiger Juniors’ offense. Hoover doubled twice and singled, driving in a run. Beaumont doubled twice and tripled while scoring three runs and driving in one. Wakehouse singled all three times while scoring three runs. Gavin Noel & Gavin Enstrom both went 2-4. Noel doubled & singled, scoring one and driving in two while Enstrom singled both times, scoring three runs and driving in one. Jordan Derra & Chauncey Rogers both went 2-4. Derra singled both times while driving in a pair of runs while
Rogers doubled & singled, scoring twice and driving in four runs. The Tigers totaled 19 hits in 35 at bats for a .543 batting average.
Charlie Dvorak went 4-5 and Trevor Styskal went 3-5 at the plate to lead the W-P/D-H offense. Dvorak singled all four times with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs while Styskal doubled all three times with 3 runs and 3 RBI’s.
The Tekamah-Herman Juniors advance to a RBL tournament quarterfinal round against Wayne on Friday, June 29 in Wayne at 8pm.
