OMAHA, Neb. — Maggie Meyer has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Omaha volleyball program in 2018, head coach Rose Shires announced Thursday.

Meyer is a 5-11 outside hitter who played for Coach Jordan Vidovic at Marist High School in Chicago, Ill. In 2017, her team won the Illinois 4A state championship with a record of 41-1, and Meyer earned all-state, all-area and ESCC all-conference recognition to cap the season. She finished with 371 kills, 256 digs, 47 blocks and 36 aces in her senior campaign.

Meyer also plays club volleyball for Coach Marco Quintana at Ultimate VBC.

“I am thrilled to add someone of Maggie’s competitive caliber to our program,” Shires said. “Coming from one of the best Illinois high school teams, she is a pin attacker who truly understands what it takes to win. Her tenacity and fearlessness, combined with her heavy arm and ability to score, are a formula for success.

“Not only will Maggie enhance our depth in the outside hitter position, she will be huge for our culture. She embodies all the qualities we want in a student-athlete at Omaha. I’m excited to see the impact Maggie will make within our program.”
